Submission Guidelines:
The following guidelines for submitting stories for consideration in the Parables for Life in the 21st
Century series are exactly that – “guidelines.” Following these guidelines perfectly does not guarantee
that your story will be used in a future book. Similarly, stories that deviate somewhat from the guidelines
are not automatically disqualified. Guidelines -- the framework that defines the general approach to each
story -- are critical to the success of a series of books so that the readers will feel comfortable as they buy
each new book as it comes out, or obtain the previous ones if they join the series mid-stream.
The guidelines are not numbered because they are not a checklist of items that you must complete to
guarantee “success.” These guidelines are subject to change without notice.
You cannot expect to write a story for a book series if you have not read any of the series itself. CLICK

Century. Please read some stories so you get the idea of the stories, morals, and applications.
Each book will contain 24 - 40 stories; there is no magical number. Therefore, story lengths will also vary. A
story consists of three parts:
The narrative story itself (a fictional tale)
The moral to the story (or the "lesson learned")
Applications of that moral that are targeted to the specific audience (from the title)
The total length of all three parts of the story should be around 1,500 words. Some will be shorter and
some will be longer. But the publisher will not accept a book of all “shorter” stories!
Each story submission must be in the following form:
Book title for which you are submitting the story must be the first item
Follow the book title with your full name, address, phone, and email address
Tell me what makes you “qualified” to write a story on this subject
If you have anything else that is pertinent, tell me -- your website, etc.
After a couple of blank lines, write your story:
Story title
Narrative
Moral
Applications of the moral
Certification of originality and assignment of rights - you must include the following: “I certify that the
work(s) that I am submitting are original works of mine, or that I have permission to submit them as my
work(s) or as work(s) that are not owned by any other party or parties. I hereby release Stuart Gustafson
Productions, LLC, and any and all downstream parties from any liability arising from my submitting work(s)
that are not mine. I also hereby grant to Stuart Gustafson Productions, LLC, all rights in my original work(s)
that I am submitting if and only if the work(s) are published by him or his publisher.”
All submissions must be done electronically in MS Word .doc format. You may submit more than one story at
a time, but each one must be in a separate file/attachment.

You might submit a story that is similar to a story that has already been submitted. Stuart Gustafson shall
be the sole decision maker for which story (if any) shall be used. His decision will be final, and
compensation for any one published story will be paid to only one person, regardless of the number of
people who have submitted similar stories.
Even if I include a story in a book that is submitted to the publisher, there is no guarantee that the
publisher will include the story in the published book. In fact, there is no guarantee that any book will be
published, but I will be doing what I can to get them published.
Compensation:
For each story that you submit and is published in a book in the Parables for Life in the 21st Century
series, you will receive:
A $40 check from Stuart Gustafson Productions, LLC
Two (2) Autographed copies of the book in which your story is published
Your name will be included as a contributing author in the book
This will be your full and complete compensation, meaning that you are not entitled to any advances, book
royalties, or any other financial or other compensation or consideration. This also means that there is no
implied contract between us nor am I obligated to consider any future submissions from you.
